Canada Day!

Author: Rocky

It’s the 1st of July 2010 – and that means its Canada Day!!

Canada day

Canada Day (French: Fête du Canada), formerly Dominion Day, is Canada’s national day, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united two British colonies and a province of the British Empire into a single country called Canada. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as internationally.

Frequently referred to as “Canada’s birthday”, particularly in the popular press, the occasion marks the joining of the British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada into a federation of four provinces (the Province of Canada being divided, in the process, into Ontario and Quebec) on July 1, 1867. Although Canada is regarded as having become a kingdom in its own right on that date, the British Parliament kept limited rights of political control over the new country that were shed by stages over the years until the last vestiges were surrendered in 1982 when the Constitution Act patriated the Canadian constitution. Anyone watching the BBCNews24 channel tonight, just an hour ago you will have seen an Air Transat flight land at Newcastle International Airport – What you may not have known is that this flight was operated by Canadian Affair! If you needed any proof that Canadian Affair truly cares about their passengers, this has to be the biggest evidence of it you’ll find, being the first trans Atlantic flight into the UK!

For my review on Canadian Affair, please check out my review article http://www.canadatrip.co.uk/canadian-affair-2010/

The No Fly Zone is Finally Lifted! All you people who are stuck abroad currently, Us here at CanadaTrip.co.uk send our best wishes out to you and wish you the safest and quickest trip back.. as well as a Very well earned rest when you arrive back home.

This year Canadian Affair is celebrating 15 years offering people great value flights to and from places people dream of.
Canadian Affair runs flights through well known and popular Thomas Cook, so you’ll be flying Thomas Cook or well known (in Canada) Canadian airline Air Transat. In 2009 Canadian Affair was voted ‘Consumer Favourite Tour Operator’ and ‘Consumer Favourite Ski Operator’ by the Canadian Tourism Commission. And with my experience in flying with them, every time i have been i will recommend them over and over as the one stop shop you should be looking at should you want to fly to Canada.
Oh and yes, my two trips out this year, are already booked with them!

A lot of people don’t realise that Canadian Affair always run a large number of offers – so take a quick look at the offers most people miss by clicking here for their special offers like flights from £139!

So once again, my recommendation on the company you should fly to Canada in 2010 is Canadian Affair.

Below I’m including my review on Canadian Affair from last year, but before it I’m going to mention a couple of things I’ve seeing about the web
I’m sure if you’re searching for for Canadian Affair Reviews, positive or negative, you’ll have found a great deal – that’s because many people use the company every year.. One thing I’ve found is that a great deal of negative points are based on ‘one off’ instances which many people would disregard if you had a comfortable flight. I’ve now had the experience of 12 happy flights with them and i have absolute faith in the company. I’ve seen “complaints” over the seats people have booked changing a month or so before their flight – this can happen, for example if a flight is underbooked (not many people booked themselves onto the flight) rather than cancelling the flight, sometimes they will change an A330 for an A310 – different planes have different seating layouts.. but even so they will try to put you in the closest seat to what you asked for (as they did with us last year). And if you look at the reviews which are positive, the majority are almost 5 out of 5 and i think that speaks louder than anything! So, here’s my 5 out of 5 positive review about Canadian Affair from just after flying with them last year!

“So, what about my experience with Canadian Affair? Well every time i have ever visited Canada, i have always booked through Canadian Affair. This is because back in 2005 i went hunting for the best prices and Canadian Affair won hands down every single time. Since then I’ve been on 12 separate flights booked by Canadian Affair and I’ve never had any major problems what so ever. (more…)

I’ve been doing my rounds as normal, and I’ve just spotted this, so here’s a micro article that i HAD to publish right away about an offer that Canada’s Official Tourism website is offering, using our number one recommended flight operator Canadian Affair!

Emerging from the Winter

Author: Rocky

Hi guys and yes, finally – this is the first post of 2010. I have to apologise for our recent no-posts.. though family illnesses, moving house, and a whole load of other stuff too crazy to mention here generally puts a halt to plans!
But, what a winter we have had here in the UK this year! I generally love winter, a time to get warm by the fire and drink hot chocolate. Yet where we have had a pretty long harsh winter (for UK Standards!) Canada, especially southern Ontario has had a relatively mild winter at the side of what they usually have.. That though didn’t stop Lake Simcoe freezing over though!

A photo taken while walking on lake simcoe

So, as the UK moves into British Summer Time, we wake up, brush off the snow and get ready for another year of places to see, places to eat and how and when to go!

While you’re out in Canada, usually there’s at least one day with interesting weather – especially if you’re in the great lakes region. By interesting i can mean thunder storms. If you’re interested in weather – Canada really is a great destination to visit. It gets pretty much everything that weather can dish out through the coarse of a year, and so while out there why not get your forecasts and weather news from Canada’s most reliable weather channel? Trust me, if you’re in a region with a storm watch, and you love weather – The weather network can add that little extra excitement!

A Funnel Cloud

I’ve been in southern Ontario about three times when storm warnings and tornado warnings have been in force in my area and the weather network provides you with updated information and eyewitness accounts of everything that’s happening when it’s happening. None of those documentaries which were common in the 1990s which taught you all about tornadoes or hurricanes can really ever be as useful or fun to watch than this channel during a storm.. and all the time that added buzz you get from actually being there as it’s happening!
