Flying to Canada

Author: Rocky

I happen to love flying, and having done the journey either to or back from Canada over 10 times now I’ve got a pretty good idea what you should expect from your flight! So here’s my experience – and some helpful little tips when flying to Canada!

Thomas Cook 757 at Toronto in June 2006

Okay, first thing everyone thinks of first — the Airport.. Well, every time (so far) that I’ve flown to Canada, I’ve flown from London Gatwick Airport. I like to see this airport as being pretty organised, and we usually park our car up – head in nice and early and get a cup of coffee at Starbucks in the land side part waiting for our check in desk to open. When we’ve checked in – if it goes as well as it did this year in May, we were through security in record time – 10 minutes for X-raying bags, coats, walking through the metal detector – and then through the shoe X-ray machine – I was massively impressed!

Well, to be completely honest, this is the article I’ve been waiting with great anticipation to post.. Canadian Affair, i guarantee you is THE company which will save you the most money on your trip to Canada!

Here’s the big secret — Every time we have flown to Canada, we have booked our flights with Canadian Affair. My experience with them (which is over 12 flights) has been absolutely fantastic. The flights are by Thomas Cook, Air Transat and West Jet and the service on all of these airlines are as you would expect from Canadian Affair’s services amazing. From my experience of flying – i have flown Thomas Cook with Canadian Affair, as well as Air Transat – and here’s why booking flights with the following airlines – with Canadian Affair:

Finding Hotels in Canada

Author: Rocky

Finding the place where you’d like to base yourself is often a complicated task, thumbing through countless brochures and when you’ve got yourself a nice hotel, you then have to start looking for car hire, and flights and the rest of the essentials..

One of the places I’m going to recommend to you guys for hunting hotels especially is Ebookers. They have a massive directory of hotels all over the world – but it’s especially comprehensive in Canada. Whether you’re in Toronto, Niagara – or even some of the smaller lesser known places such as Orillia – Ebookers will have suggestions on which hotels for you to stay in – with reviews from people who have actually stayed in those hotels, so you know what to expect before you even book your stay. Ebookers allow reviewers to rank the hotels in a number out of 5 basis, the closer to five the closer you know you’re looking at a well respected hotel. Hotels are assessed by Amenities, Maintenance, the Hotel Staff, Room Comfort, the location of the hotel its self and its value for money.

The site as you will see, provides you with all the information on the hotels you’re looking for – a large descriptive blurb summarizing the hotel, a map of its location in your chosen destination, the amenities – and the reviews I’ve already mentioned.

So, before you start hunting for your hotels all over the web, have a look here – and if you sign up for flights or other essentials you get to save on these – all taylor made for you!

A huge majority of people travelling abroad choose to leave their precious car in long stay car parks. The problem is – how much does it cost? Would it be cheaper to book a taxi? Well the fact of the matter is ~ sometimes it actually IS cheaper to book a taxi than to take the car down to the airport and check it in for a nice holiday watching planes for two weeks… That is of coarse if you don’t check out Purple Parking.

I’ve seen this place a number of times , and would certainly recommend you check their prices for airport parking before you go anywhere else. It’s actually the most simple layout for finding a quote for airport parking that I’ve seen, and since i only want you guys to get the best deals, so you can make the most of your money (and ultimately have more spending money when you’re out there!) – naturally i am going to let you guys know of this company!

We actually park at Gatwick usually when we go to Canada – and taking car parking options with hopper bus services that run every so many minutes are truly the best way of getting your holiday off to a quick start. Some of the car parks offered offer a service where you simply drive your car into a designated area, take your bags – show the desk your voucher or receipt, drop off your keys and they will go park your car up for you – leaving you with the task of simply hopping on a bus to take you the short distance to the airport.
Different companies (and tariffs) offer hopper bus services at different intervals. The one we use is generally every 10 minutes – though usually even the ones who are the least frequent are only 20 minutes.

If you would prefer a more direct approach, many airports also offer car parks which are effectively on the doorstep, though you usually have to pay a little more for these – so check out Purple Parking to see what tariffs are on offer and what your best quote will be!
