Toronto is a fantastic city, but while you’re there why not take a day or two to explore more of the places around it. We’ve already covered a number of places out and about – one of them being Niagara Falls but there is so much around the city you’ll want to get out there and explore. As it says on the licence plates in Ontario it’s literally “Yours to Discover”! So the place we’re reccomending today is Prince Edward County

Prince Edward County (“the County”) is a region of southeastern Ontario that juts out into Lake Ontario. With its abundance of water, fresh air and wide-open spaces, the area has become increasingly popular with visitors, artists and Toronto residents… oh and it’s only 130 km / 81 miles (about 90 min drive) away from down town Toronto! Now. like I’ve said before, I’ll always keep my eyes open for deals on flights, especially to Toronto, and there’s only one place i look these days – I’ve looked everywhere else and Canadian Affair beats everyone else hands down on costs.

WELL, I’m now on my way to Canada! If you’re reading this in response to seeing it posted at 10:10am – then I’ll be flying as you read!
But this isnt the subject of the article!
It’s now half way through August, so, time for summer holidays is drawing short, and Kids will be back at school in 2 weeks (or if you’re in Scotland .. in a few days!) so maybe it’s time to start dreaming again.. Many of us have had our holiday for the year – and we could get down thinking about how long it is until our next time off from work.. But instead, how about we have a look – at what could be in store for us next year huh? Optimism is always the best way of seeing things!

OKAY! Lets think earlyish next year.. In Ontario – particularly Toronto you get some absolutely perfect weather in May – the temperature never gets too hot, and usually is a comfortable teen temperature – with a nice warm sun. Also, booking a holiday in May also helps you save a valuable holiday day – as there are two opportunities to book your holiday over a bank holiday – so you only use 9 days instead of 10 over a two week break! – So! lets get planning!

While you’re in Toronto – why not take a day to visit Canada’s Premiere Themed Amusement Park! Whether you have kids young or old, or even if you dont have any – Canada’s Wonderland is guarenteed to be a day you wont forget!

Canada’s Wonderland is a 330-acre (1.3 km2) theme park in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, 30 kilometres north of downtown Toronto. The park is open seasonally from May to October and contains more than 200 attractions. It opened in 1981 and was Canada’s first major theme park.

Okay, so, summer is here – August .. But you may want to think about heading out at short notice! .. Just because summer is here, and prices have shot up because of the school holidays, there’s always chances to find cheap hotels in Toronto! You may be reading this because you’ve hit it lucky and been able to get time off work, and really there are few places better than Toronto to take short or even full length holidays at. There’s lots of places you may want to look for prices, but we’ll stick to our recommended company Ebookers, since they guarantee you the best prices you’ll be able to find – and from my experience it is very difficult to beat the prices they display.

Okay, I’m going to do all the work for you – aren’t i nice! Lets take the last Saturday in august – give us a month’s grace for you to book your flights (With Canadian Affair of course to get the cheapest flights) and car hire and all the other bits and bobs! Saturday 29th August – it even falls so you have a bank holiday Monday, so if you’re taking time off work – you only have to use 9 days rather than 10 (see! I’m always thinking of you!)

If you like cities – you will Love Toronto. This is a Canadian – film style city – one of those cities you see in films and wonder what it would be like to be standing, in the middle of the sky scrapers looking up at the gleaming glass sides that literally seem to reach right up into the sky giving you a perfect demonstration of what artists call ‘perspective’

Well, this is your chance! – Toronto as I’m sure you have seen from the masses of photos that are posted all around the internet has a very unique skyline – centrepeiced by the CN tower, but although made to look shorter – the other shining towers of commerce look no less impressive.

Toronto motorsports park got it’s start as a RCAF airfeild in World War 2, purchased in 1955 and converted into the Kohler Dragstrip. This pride of racing in Ontario has been home to dragracing for over 50 years and still doesn’t cease to amaze the crouds. Contrary its name however, this drag strip is a fair distance South of Toronto – it’s actually in the Cayuga area so make sure you check the map below! This place is quicker to get to from Hamilton, St. Catherines or Niagara if you’re planning on visiting.

If you’re flying into Toronto Pearson International Airport, you may be lucky enough to be greeted to Canada with a beautiful cityscape of Toronto, set on the background of Lake Ontario – The city skyline of Toronto, no matter where you go in the world will always have a needle looking building to its centre – this is the truely world famous CN Tower Toronto.

Even before i knew where it was, or what it was called, i recognised its shape as a child – and if you’re in Toronto, this is your chance to get to visit one of the modern era’s man made wonders of the world, and the tallest free standing structure in the world from 1975 to 2007.

The CN Tower

To get into the CN tower there is an admission price, and there are varying levels of admission. The basic admission will allow you up to the observation deck, as well as the lower ‘open air’ viewing area. A further pass will allow you to go to the highest part of the tower, and if you look at the pictures of the tower, it is almost a good third higher up than the first. If you’re planning your day out – it is good to know also that up the CN tower there is a cafe/resteraunt on the main viewing area of the tower in wich you can eat while you’re enjoying the breath taking views of the city and surrounding area.
