This place is built on the site that used to be Grant’s General Store. My great grandparents owned the store & Inn way back when….then my great Aunt Mable ran things until she passed away in the 70′s. Some new people bought the place and ran it as an Inn – not changing a thing – all the old family photos remained intact as well as the furnishings. It was like a trip back in time the last time I visited (2001 I think?) Then unfortunatley someone decided to raze the whole place, So terribly sad. The place was a landmark – had been there for well over 100 years. Now this new place has been built. I hear it’s very nice & that the owner is very friendly. I live in new York but hope to get up there sometime soon. I’m afraid I’ll cry to see Grant’s all gone though. So many memories….

I’ve had a look around to try find out a little more information, to see if it was – though i havent been able to actually find reference to it being The Chateau Lodge, however the people at Country Fare and Inn are very friendly and i’m sure they’d be happy to let you know if it truely was The Chateau Lodge as you suspect Their contact information is on their website http://www.cfarebaptiste.com/ hope this helps!

I cannot help but wonder if this establishment had been at one time “The Chateau Lodge” owned by the Sommers family? The description herein is just too familiar, and it has been a LONG time since I have been there. Any help there, please? Thanks.
