Down Town Toronto

Author: Rocky

If you like cities – you will Love Toronto. This is a Canadian – film style city – one of those cities you see in films and wonder what it would be like to be standing, in the middle of the sky scrapers looking up at the gleaming glass sides that literally seem to reach right up into the sky giving you a perfect demonstration of what artists call ‘perspective’

Well, this is your chance! – Toronto as I’m sure you have seen from the masses of photos that are posted all around the internet has a very unique skyline – centrepeiced by the CN tower, but although made to look shorter – the other shining towers of commerce look no less impressive.

I went into Toronto in June of 2008, now I’m not someone who likes being in big cities I’ll admit – coming from the countryside – my type of holiday is certainly out in the sticks – but even i was awestruck by the scale and presence of these amazingly architected and engineered buildings.
We travelled into Toronto after parking up at Fairview Mall – (which we’ll feature in the future) and taking the subway into the city. Hopping out above ground we were greeted by the following view

We’d managed to pop out in the centre of town during a busy lunch hour, so lots of business people were running around getting and sitting down to eat lunch. But even so – it was the buildings themselves that were the stars of the hour – and the place we’d hopped out gave an amazing view through the buildings to the CN tower which we were headed to next.

If you are intending on finding something to eat, you really don’t have to go far, above the subway station we popped out of (and i apologise for forgetting the name) there was a neat cafe serving coffee, hot and cold sandwiches and other things you’d want to have for a city lunch – If you’re looking for shopping however – the city has a number of huge malls and amenities – BUT we’ll cover shopping in another post shortly in the future!

If you want to find the place we took these photos from – check out the map below:

So in Summary – whether you’re into cities or not.. You’re guaranteed to be awestruck by Down Town Toronto!
